ATTENTION GRADUATING STUDENTS!!! Click on the following link and complete the WESS Grads Scholarship Form. This form is required in order to be eligible for our many scholarships and bursaries.

SCHOLARSHIPS, BURSARIES AND OSAP
As information on scholarships and bursaries come in, we will make announcements, post the information on this page, and send a message through Google Classroom. Students are also encouraged to check the Scholarship binder frequently in Guidance. Leave lots of time to complete all of the requirements of the scholarship as well as mailing time for the application to arrive at its destination. Students requiring transcripts for their application should see Mrs. Bakker well in advance of the due date.
All graduates should complete the PINK SHEET which makes them eligible for awards given out by the West Elgin community. These awards vary and are not all mark dependent. The deadline to submit the PINK SHEET to Guidance is MAY 1.

Thames Valley Scholarships: Separate application is needed for each award. Due May 1 to Guidance. Click here or go to www.tvdsb.ca and click on Students - Student Awards and Scholarships.
Loran scholarship 2018: Deadline for sponsored applicants is each October. Each school is able to sponsor up to 3 applicants. The criteria for this scholarship is: strong academic performance and character (85% average over last 3 years), commitment to serving others, great potential as a leader, independent thinker, and a willingness to take meaningful risks. If you are not a sponsored applicant, you can still apply as a direct pool applicant.
Horatio Alger Ontario Scholarship Program: This scholarship is for students who can demonstrate a critical financial need ($55,00 or less annual net income family income), are involved in co-curricular and community activities, and display integrity and perseverance in overcoming adversity.
TD Canada trust scholarship: This scholarship program is open to students across Canada who:
Are in their final year of high school or CEGEP
Have a minimum overall grade average of 75% in their most recently completed school year
Have demonstrated community leadership
Are a Canadian citizen or Permanent Resident
Plan to attend college or university in Canada
Applications must be received each November
Scholarships for the Arts: Students who plan to pursue full-time post-secondary education in the performing or creative arts who have demonstrated exceptional artistic ability. Usually awarded to 3-5 new students each year. Value is typically $3,000 to $10,000 over 4 years.

Student Life Network: In collaboration with CIBC is offering a $20,000 scholarship for a current Canadian student. It is not merit based and is open to all students. In addition to $20,000 for school, it contains many other awards including a full-year tuition.
Terry Fox Humanitarian Award: This program is open to graduating secondary school students and those currently studying towards their first university degree. It recognizes humanitarian volunteer work. The applicant must continuously demonstrate a strong performance in academics, athletics, and volunteerism. Applications must be post-marked by February 1.
Schulich Leader Scholarship: This is a prestigious entrance scholarship awarded to high school graduates enrolling in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) programs at one of their 20 Canadian partner universities. Each high school is able to nominate 1 student. If you fit the criteria and are interested, please contact Guidance. Nominations are due February 1st.
McMaster Engineering Entrance Scholarships: The Hatch Entrance scholarship valued at $48,000 is available for students to apply to entering first year Engineering. Criteria include at least 94% amission average, leadership experience, and involvement in extra-curricular and/or volunteer acitivities in the community.
Town and Country Mutual Insurance Award: This award is offered annually to graduating students whose parents or legal guardians are policyholders with Town & Country Mutual Insurance Company. To find out more information and to download the application, click here. The deadline is April 30, 2017.
CUPE 4222 GRADUATION AWARDS: All CUPE 4222 members' children are eligible in the year they receive their secondary school diploma to apply for this award. Details can be found on the CUPE4222 website.

W. Frank Scott Memorial Bursary: This bursary is being offered to a physically handicapped student graduating from secondary school and continuing their studies in a post-secondary education at a college or university. See the file below for specifics.
London Home Economics Association (LHEA): This $350 scholarship is available to graduating students planning to enter university or college next year to pursue a degree in Home Economics/Human Ecology/Family Studies/Foods and Nutrition related program. The deadline has been extended to March 1, 2016. See the file below for more details. This award alternates between high school students and current post-secondary students.
Royal Canadian Legion Scholarships: Royal Canadian Legion Bursary Assistance Program. This Bursary Program is designed to assist students entering or continuing their post-secondary education. Contact your local Royal Canadian Legion Branch or download the application from the link above.
ORBA Civil Engineering and Technology Scholarships: The ORBA Scholarship program offers 4 monetary awards to students to assist in their tuition and education expenses.
4-H Ontario Scholarships: Available for 4-H members as well as non-4-H members. Dates vary.
Betty Want Scholarship for Community Service: This scholarship is offered by the Elgin-St. Thomas United Way to recognize Betty Want's many years of service to the United Way and the community of Elgin County. One $1,000 scholarship will be awarded each year to a student in Elgin County. Deadline is April 28, 2017.
Stuart Ferguson Memorial Scholarship: Granted to a graduating student who is a recipient of social assistance (OW/ODSP) or part of a family unit receiving social assistance (OW/ODSP) and will be pursuing college or university. See Guidance for an application.
OJEN Bursaries: Available to grade 12 students in Ontario, pursuing post-secondary studies related to the many careers in the justice system at an Ontario University or College.
The Ontario Native Education Counselling Association (ONECA): The Ontario Native Education Counselling Association (ONECA) Post-Secondary Student Awards. The Four Directions scholarship is for students entering their first year of studies at a post-secondary institution. There are other awards for students who are currently enrolled in a post-secondary institution. Due date is June 30.
